Students with prior experience in any language may elect to take the placement exam or consult a GCL instructor to enroll in a language course at the assigned level. Students with no evidence of prior study of language are required to begin at 100-level.

Courses numbering SPA 300 - 349 may be used to satisfy the language elective requirement.

A study abroad/internship experience approved by a GCL advisor can also be counted as three elective credits towards the certificate.

Elective course options may have additional prerequisites.
Students must earn a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA in the certificate's coursework.
